Former Elementary School Principal Admits To Sex With Student

Santa Maria, CA-- Brookanne Collier, the 32-year-old elementary school principal, who was accused of having sex with a former student pleaded guilty Thursday morning.

Collier was scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing, but instead a plea deal was reached with the District Attorney's Office and Collier changed her previous plea of not guilty.

The former Tunnel School Principal was facing seven felony counts of sex acts with a minor. In April, Collier entered not guilt pleas to all of the charges. Following Thursday's plea agreement, Collier pleaded guilty to four charges after three of the seven charges were dropped.

In a statement released by the Santa Maria Bonita Unified School District, the district expressed their disappointment and condemnation of Collier's behavior. Collier has since resigned from the district.

She now faces a year in county jail and is scheduled to be sentenced in late July.
