Prominent Republican Will Run For State Assembly

Santa Barbara, CA-- Flanked by local and state officials, Mike Stoker former Santa Barbara County Supervisor announced his campaign for the 35th Assembly District. Pedro Nava (D) who currently holds the 35th Assembly District seat, will term out in 2010.

Stoker a republican, said he would run on a platform of reducing the state workforce, protecting police and fire services and increasing education funding.

Stoker, is currently a consultant for Greka Energy based out of Santa Maria. During Friday's press conference he lauded his work with Greka saying, he has worked at making the company safer, more efficient and creating a full-time accident response team.

Those running on the democratic ticket for the seat include, Nava's wife Susan Jordan and Santa Barbara City Councilman Das Williams.
