LocalNews-Press Vigil
It may be Saturday, but Santa Barbara News-Press employees aren't taking a break from getting owner, Wendy McCaw's attention.
Saturday night workers held a candlelight vigil at the Biltmore in Montecito while McCaw and her boyfriend attended an event. As the Santa Barbara News-Press Lifetime Achievement awards went on inside, workers protested outside. In recent months 28 journalists have left the News-Press because they say McCaw interfered with journalism ethics. The most recent dismissal, 21 year veteran reporter Melinda Burns. KEY News was unable to get a comment about the protest from Wendy McCaw. |
