USS Stockdale Arrives At Port Hueneme

Christina Heller

Port Hueneme, CA-- The Santa Barbara navy league is about to help commission one of the navy's newest and most advanced ships.

The USS Stockdale pulled into Port Hueneme Tuesday morning to give its crew a little rest and relaxation.

While onshore, the sailors will play against the Santa Barbara Fire Department in its traditional softball tournament.

The USS Stockdale was adopted by the Santa Barbara Navy League for the ship's commissioning ceremony that will take place this Saturday.

The Stockdale is a guided missile destroyer, the same kind of ship that helped rescue Captain Richard Phillips by Somali pirates.

For more information on how you can get up-close and personal with the ship you can send an email to ussStockdale@santabarbaranavyleague.org or log onto www.USSStockdale.org site.
