LocalRape Victim Student Gets $1 Million From City College
Santa Barbara City College has agreed to pay a woman raped by one of their former security guards one million dollars. The settlement came days before the case was set to go to trial.
The woman was raped by Kent Kafatia, 22, a campus security guard who was convicted of rape and false imprisonment and is now serving an eight-year prison sentence. Ventura attorney John Howard spoke to KEY News about his client Natasha Deacon, who was raped by Kafatia. Howard says a million dollars was the non-negotiable settlement amount to walk away from a trial. KEY News reporter Michelle Cole has the story. |
