Goats Help Firefighters in Santa Barbara
They have one of the best appetites for work anyone has seen.
A herd of goats has started to take a bite out of TV Hill in Santa Barbara, to chew through the brush and reduce the fire dangers. The Buellton based company "Brush Goats 4 Hire" has 50 goats on the steep, rugged terrain for the next month. The end result will be a substantial reduction in chaparral, weeds, and tall grass. David Beard with the Dreier Group, says instead of having a hand crew with noisy equipment, like chain saws, the goats are doing all the work. Brush Goats 4 Hire, associate, Pam Meyer says the goats are up early and put in a long day. Before they were on TV Hill, the goats took a bite out of Mission Canyon across town to reduce fire dangers there.
