Close Call For Local CHP Officer
Santa Barbara, CA-- It appears the driver accused of crashing into a CHP patrol car Tuesday night was under the influence of alcohol.
The accident happened in Santa Barbara just before 9 p.m. near the Milpas Street offramp from Highway 101. A CHP spokeswoman says, the officer had pulled over another driver for having a taillight out, when a 50-year-old man from New Mexico... slammed into the car. The officer was not hurt but he came so close to being hit, he's reported to have felt the wind from the suspect vehicle blow by his face. One person was treated for minor injuries and released. This close call comes one year after Ventura County CHP Officer Tony Pedeferri was struck by a DUI driver on Highway 101. Pedeferri narrowly survived that crash but the Arizona man he pulled over did not. |
