Santa Barbara, CA-- KEY News is first to announce Santa Barbara City Councilwoman, Helene Schneider, is running for mayor of Santa Barbara.

Schneider says, she wants to avoid layoffs if she's elected in 2009.

KEY News Reporter Ryan Carmel met up with the current Councilwoman and has more on Schneider's plans for the city's future.
