Chambers Reaching Out To Local Businesses
Arroyo Grande, CA-- Local, small businesses are looking for an economic boost just like some big businesses are getting.
And they were quick to sound off about their growing financial problems when they came face to face with Congresswoman Lois Capps, at a luncheon in Arroyo Grande. Many said they can barely hang on. Others have turned out their lights along Branch Street, the main drag in town. Congresswoman Capps spoke to many business leaders at a Chamber of Commerce lunch and said she is urging the next Congress to make the economy a priority from day one, when they get sworn in on January 5, 2009. She says some of the problems with the banking institutions is based on fear that loans will never be paid back. One local businesswoman, Linda Osty said unlike the auto industry or failing banks, "We don't get a bail out. And, if they raise our taxes, a lot of us won't be here."
