Cold Temps Have Growers On Edge
Ventura County, CA-- Local growers and nursery owners are keeping an eye on the falling temperatures predicted for Wednesday night.
Snow covering mountains north of Ojai makes for a fun playground, but if it gets much colder crops and plants could be left with noticeable white or black freeze marks. Nursery owners advise customers to cover sensitive plants. Growers rely on water and windmills to protect their cash crops. One grower told KEY News he wouldn't complain about the cold, as long as it comes with much needed rain for his thirsty citrus and avocado trees.
