Holiday Burglaries On The Rise

Santa Barbara, CA-- Santa Barbara Police are encouraging residents to be vigilant against residential burglaries after several Santa Barbara homes are burglarized over the past week.

Thousands of dollars worth of valuables were taken including things like jewelry, electronics, and in once case a handgun.

Police say they do see more burglaries this time of year during the holidays. They urge residents to stay on guard because in few of the recent cases burglars were able to gain entry to homes because they were left unlocked.

According to police, during the holidays this time last year there were 36 burglaries. So far this year there have been 38.
