Market Hit Twice By Shotgun Bandits

Christina Heller

Grover Beach, CA-- For the second time in a matter of weeks, the Market Express convenience store was robbed by an individual with a shotgun.

This latest robbery took place Monday night just before 11 p.m. on the 1000 block of 13th Street in Grover Beach. A white male in his late 40's to early 50's entered the store pointed a shotgun at the clerk and demanded money from the register.

After the clerk gave him the cash, the suspect was chased out of the store and hit with a golf club another employee. The suspect was able to get away with the money in small blue, compact vehicle.

In late November, employees of the Market Express were held at gunpoint by a woman demanding cash.

Police say there are similarities between these two crimes and they are investigating whether they are connected.

If anyone has information about either of these robberies they are urged to call the Grover Beach Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 549-STOP.
