Supervisor Recount Results

Christina Heller

Santa Barbara, CA-- Thousands of ballots cast in the race for 3rd District Santa Barbara County Supervisor are being recounted.

Supporters of defeated candidate Steve Pappas have requested a recount of all precincts in Isla Vista and UCSB. The Pappas campaign has also asked to review voter registration cards, absentee ballot applications, precinct rosters and other materials.

The cost of all this is being paid for by Pappas' campaign. So far it totals more than ten thousand dollars.

The Santa Barbara County Clerk doesn't expect the recount to change the election results.

Newly elected Supervisor Doreen Farr's campaign had this response to the recount-"Farr will be sworn into office on January 6th, replacing Brooks Firestone as the representative of the district which includes Goleta, Isla Vista, UCSB and stretches out to the Santa Ynez Valley."

Pappas' campaign has not returned phone calls seeking comment.
