Van Tassel Ordered Back Into Custody
Santa Barbara, CA-- Santa Barbara County Superior Court Judge George Eskin ordered a bail increase for Edward Van Tassel.
Van Tassel was arrested after waving an American flag with an unloaded gun on a Santa Barbara freeway overpass in early November this year. Prosecutors argued, that when Van Tassel showed up at actor Tom Cruise's Beverly Hills home last week he showed signs of being a danger to the public. Van Tassel is now locked in a psychiatric hospital where he could stay for up to 30 more days. A hospital doctor and Van Tassel's attorney told the court he is not a danger to the public. But, Judge Eskin did revoke his bail and raised it to $250,000. When Van Tassel is released from the hospital, he will be booked into Santa Barbara County Jail. Van Tassel's next court appearance is scheduled for January 14th. |
