Tea Fire Rebuild May Hit Roadblocks

Santa Barbara, CA-- At least 10 homeowners in the Tea Fire burn area may not be allowed to rebuild because of a 25-year old ordinance.

It affects homes in the Conejo Road landslide area. The Santa Barbara City ordinance prohibits any homes from being rebuilt there because the land is considered unstable.

However, the ordinance is coming under fire. City council discussed the ordinance this past week and while it may not change residents say, there is a safe way to rebuild in the volatile area.

No decision has been made on the ordinance but residents expect discussions to continue.
