Amputee Surfers Hit The Waves In Pismo Beach
A group of 12 veterans wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan, many who are amputees, attended a surf clinic Wednesday in Pismo Beach. Operation Comfort, a non-profit organization providing support to injured service members, arranged for the veterans to stay at SeaVenture Resort and attend a special surf clinic taught by local amputee surfing champion, Rodney Roller. T
The veterans who attended this multi-day surf camp tell KEY News they are overwhelmed by the support they have received from the community. They also said that it is enjoyable to learn how to use their 'new' body parts or cope without certain extremities, doing outdoor activities rather than being cooped up in a gym.
