Fire Heros Used Construction Truck

During a night of fire on Las Alturas Road, while many residents fled, two brothers who had been working on a construction project, drove into the flames exploding out of the nearby canyons where the Tea fire was spreading.

Their effort saved several homes. Neighbors say if it wasn't for Kelly and Kevin Lawrence the whole neighborhood would have gone up. The Lawrence brothers are volunteer firefighters from Northern California.

They used a fire hose and water from their personal tanker truck to defend several homes. The effort was backed up by an aerial attack from helicopters using night vision goggles to hit the target areas.

The location is at a critical spot where flames could have gone down a canyon towards hundreds of homes on the Santa Barbara Eastside.

In a twist of irony as well, Lawrence construction had installed a fire hydrant at the site earlier in the day.
