Cycling Commuters Get Paid

Christina Heller

San Luis Obispo, CA--Under a new nationwide program, commuters who ride their bikes to work may start getting compensated with money.
It's called the Bicycle Commuter Act.

Under the program select employers will give employees who ride their bikes to work twenty dollars a month. This is a tax free benefit meant to help to pay for bike repairs and maintenance.

Officials at Ride Share, a group in San Luis Obispo that will monitor the program says the program will have many benefits.

The Bicycle Commuter Act will go into effect in January.
