Elderly Murder Suspect Granted Bail
A Carpinteria man accused of trying to kill his 85 year old wife pleaded not guilty to murder Tuesday afternoon. Jim Wheeler faces attempted murder and elder abuse charges for dumping carbon monoxide into the couples home.
There's more to this story than meets the eye. Jim Wheeler's wife, has Alzheimer's and it was when the burden of being her caregiver got to be too much that he tried to take his life and hers. After much deliberation, a judge granted Wheeler bail despite the prosecution's concerns he might try to commit suicide again. KEY News Reporter Arti Nehru was in court today and has more. |
