Concern Raises Over County Job Security

Budget cuts are taking a toll on some Santa Barbara County workers, who have been warned of future layoffs. Members of SEIU Local 721 say, at least 40 workers will lose their jobs by the end of the year. They mainly hold positions with social services, child protective services, elderly assistance and truancy programs. Union members presented their to the county supervisors Tuesday afternoon. This union says, it faces layoffs while other unions have agreed to a work furlough in December for two weeks of no pay. A meeting on the layoffs is set for Monday.
