New Santa Barbara County Ag Alliances

A new volunteer community group launched in Santa Barbara County to enhance the future of the county's agriculture. The Ag Futures Alliance or AFA is made up of 12 founding members. The groups formation is a revolutionary concept for the county because it represents a first time collaboration between local Ag officials and environmentalists. The AFA provides a forum for farmers, ranchers, conservationists, consumers and civic leaders. The group has two immediate priority issues it hopes to address the preservation of agriculture land and the pressing need for farm worker housing.
