Loaded Handgun On Campus Closes Schools In Ventura
A loaded gun and a teenager looking for bragging rights, triggered a lock-down on three school campuses in Ventura. It started just after nine Friday morning on the campus of Ventura College, on the 4600 block of Telegraph Road. Within minutes, the college campus and nearby Foothill High, and Anacapa Middle School all went on lock-down.
Students spotted the teen holding a loaded 45-caliber handgun, before stuffing it into a backpack and taking off on a bike. Police eventually nabbed the 16-year old suspect, but no gun. Detectives found the loaded weapon later in the school cafeteria. The suspect is identified as a student in the Ventura County Unified School District. He was booked into Juvenile Hall and faces charges of carrying a loaded gun on campus. |
