Witness Intimidation Poses Problem In Juarez Trial
Three suspects are in custody, accused of intimidating witnesses in a high profile murder case. And police say they plan to make more arrests. Santa Barbara Police arrested two teenagers on Friday in connection with an August 10th stabbing that happened on upper State Street. Turns out the stabbing victim was scheduled to testify during the Ricardo Juarez murder trial. Officers arrested Jorge Bustos of Goleta and a 16 year old female. A third suspect, Pablo Lopez was arrested earlier this week. Police have not released the name of the stabbing victim. But KEY News has learned, he's Eric Sanchez and may have witnessed the gang stabbing that killed 15 year old Luis Linares last year. Police say they are stepping up efforts to prevent further witness intimidation in this case. The suspects are being charged with attempted murder, active participation in a criminal street gang and intimidating a witness.
