GAP FIRE: Residents Open Their Ranches To Evacuating Animals
Residents living within the evacuated areas of La Patera Canyon and Glen Annie Canyon are being told they can shelter any large livestock, such as horses at the Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara. Officials would like to remind residents that only those living within areas under an evacuation order and warning will be allowed to board their animals at these locations. Residents who have left their homes and will be staying at the Red Cross shelter located at San Marcos High School on Hollister Ave will be allowed to bring their smaller pets along with them.
KEYT has also been contacted by residents in Santa Ynez that do have space to board any evacuated large animals such as horses, alpacas, sheep etc. For more information you can call 805-962-4887. For more information or questions regarding animal evacuations you can call Santa Barbara County Emergency Operations at 805-681-4332.
