Highway Funding Tax May Go to Voters
Santa Barbara County voters may be asked if they want to continue to pay a half cent sales tax to help fund highway, alternative transportation and passenger rail improvements.
County Supervisors and City Council members are expected to vote this week on whether or not they want the issue to be on the November ballot. The current half cent sales tax is set to expire. If the replacement measure is approved the same tax will continue to fund transportation projects until 2040. It's estimated to bring in about a billion dollars in funds. Senior Reporter John Palminteri has spoken to voters about the issue and has our story. |
