Bearded Bandit Tries To Rob A Bank In Carpinteria
The "Bearded Bandit" who has robbed several Central Coast banks in the last month has possibly struck again. This time, he fled empty handed. Around 10 a.m. on Friday morning, a tall white male entered the Santa Barbara Bank and Trust on Carpinteria Ave. in Carpinteria. He approached the teller, produced a note and was then asked by the branch manager to remove his hat and glasses. He refused to comply and then fled out the bank. The suspect matches the description of a man that has robbed several banks within the last few weeks. The suspect is around 6 ft tall, he wears a fake beard that resembles Abraham Lincoln, he was also wearing a long sleeve white pullover shirt. Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department responded immediately to the bank and contacted the FBI. Witnesses say the man fled eastbound down Carpinteria Ave. KEY News has a crew on scene and will continue to update the story as more information comes in.
