UPDATE: Nipomo Fire Under Investigation
A massive fire in Nipomo is under investigation after flames nearly destroyed an abandoned community center. The fire broke out Wednesday night at about seven on Frontage Road near Tefft Street. The fire burned for almost four hours. Investigators spent the Thursday morning going through the ashes, trying to find out what caused the fire. It took several engine companies, including a ladder truck from Arroyo Grande to stop the flames. The building was empty but appeared to have been vandalized recently due to the amount of graffiti and trash inside. Investigators are hoping to find clues in the burnt debris. Authorities say four juveniles were seen in the area just before the flames broke out and they're now looking to the public for help in finding them for questioning. If you have any information on these individuals, you're urged to call the San Luis Obispo County Fire Department at 543-9642.
