Affordable Housing Comes to San Luis Obispo
Finding affordable housing anywhere in the area is becoming harder and harder.
But some residents of San Luis Obispo have just received the keys to housing they never thought they'd have and it's all within their budget. The project by Peoples' Self Help Housing has many units for low income residents. "The truth is I never thought this was going to happen," said Valerie Lambert, a new resident. For the past six months, she had been living in her car before she was told about the new housing. She applied and qualified. Jeanette Duncan with People's Self Help Housing said, "We set aside units for people that have a history of homelessness, are in the shelter, that cycle in and out." Other similar projects are in the works in Avila Beach, Goleta, and in Ventura. Senior Reporter John Palminteri attended the grand opening ceremony in San Luis Obispo and has our report. |
