911 Tapes Released of School Shooting

Tape Brings Clarity, Confusion

Written by Kyra Jenkins

On the morning Lawrence King was shot multiple times in the head, police dispatchers received this call from the EO Green Jr High campus in Oxnard.
The 911 caller (presumed a staff member) stated there was a gun on campus and shots were fired by room 42. Confusion followed the 8:15am shooting that led to false reports about a possible suicide with the suspect shooting himself.
Students being held on campus for their own safety text messaged a similar story to their parents waiting outside. Parents soon learned that police arrested a 14-year-old classmate off campus.

The 911 call then started focusing on the weapon and it's location.
Investigators are being tight lipped about who the gun is registered to but that issue is a hot topic of debate in the community.

King died from two gun shot wounds to his head on February 13th. On Valentines Day his heart and other vital organs were donated.
