A walk home turned dangerous for a Santa Barbara woman leaving downtown bars early Saturday morning.
Police say a suspect wrapped a leather belt around the victims neck near the first block of West Micheltorena.
The 24 year old was on the phone at the time, the person she was talking to called police.
In the meantime the victim fought off her attacker, but told police his face was covered with a hood.
A short time later police found a man matching the suspects description hiding in the bushes.
The suspect had a kitchen knife on him.
He was booked for felony possession of a deadly weapon and prowling.
The victim could not i.d. the suspect in a field line-up, so at this point he's not charged in the assault.
But, police say he matches the description in this assault and others recent attacks in Santa Barbara.
