Man Sentenced to Life for Rape

Investigators go to Mexico in the Three Strikes Case

Kyra Jenkins

A man was handed a life sentence for a brutal Isla Vista rape that occurred 4 years ago.
The victim spoke out after the man convicted of the attack was sentenced to 31 years to life in prison.
Tomas Rosales-Flores is a three strike offender with his conviction in this rape and kidnapping case.
The victim (who has not been identified) spoke to KEY News through an interpreter. She said she was relieved that the attacker was tracked down and caught in Mexico because she had been living in fear.
Flores was caught and extradited back to Santa Barbara County with the help of the US Marshall's office and Mexican Federal authorities in March.
He was convicted based on DNA obtained from the victim after the rape, and a match from a prior conviction involving Flores six years ago in Illinois.
