Man Faces Charges for Animal Abuse

Kyra Jenkins

A 21-old Santa Barbara man faces felony animal cruelty and false imprisonment charges stemming from an attack over the weekend.

Nicholas Thompson allegedly beat his roommate's cat, "GiGi" nearly to death and prevented him from taking the four-month-old kitten to the veterinarian.
It happened at a Mesa apartment on Saturday morning when Thompson apparently got angry with the kitten.
Sheriff's officials say GiGi has made a miraculous recovery since going to the vet on Saturday. Thompson was released from county jail on $20,000 bail.
Thompson will be arraigned later this year on the two felony counts and battery.
