Violent Sex Offender Moves Into Housing

Kyra Jenkins

A violent sex offender has been released from a state hospital in San Luis Obispo and moved into the community today.

Last week the District Attorney's Office, City and Health officials declared Frederick Hoffman would move into a trailer off highway 1 along Kansas Avenue, by the 18th.
Hoffman is required to wear a tracking bracelet and stay away from areas where children congregate.
Sheriff officials have passed out fliers in the area, telling residents where Hoffman is living.
Hoffman could have moved in with a friend but the residence was within 2,000 feet of a school.
Hoffman has served 11 years in state prison for two charges of sexual assault against children from 1983 to 1985.
He has been receiving treatment at the Atascadero State Hospital since 1998.
