Local teams earn spot in robotics world championship

VENTURA, Calif. - Dozens of high school robotics teams and clubs competed over the weekend in the First Robotics Competition at Ventura College.

Local teams from Orcutt, Oxnard, and Camarillo competed with teams from across the country and even international teams from China and Switzerland at the Ventura regional.

The team from Orcutt Academy High School along with a Santa Barbara team called Riviera Robotics took home the top prize and Oxnard High School's Robotics Club won rookie of the year.

These local teams each earned a spot in the World Championships which will be in Houston, Texas later this month.
