Brasil Arts Cafe

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Soccer fans everywhere has been waiting four long years to celebrate opening day of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Locals got into the spirit to cheer on the worlds most popular sport.

Brasil Arts Cafe in Santa Barbara is broadcasting every soccer game until the World Cup concludes on July 13th. On opening day the Cafe held over 1,300 people all dressed in green and yellow cheering on Brazil.

"One reasons why we built this place was to have a Brazilian center so everyone could watch the world cup and to also share the Brazilian culture and the food," said Daniel Yoshimi, Owner of Brasil Arts Cafe.

Soccer is the most popular sport in the world, although in America it's not as beloved. Soccer coach Garret Gerstengerger believes that after this World Cup social media will increase the excitement.

"I think you can see it in the high school programs that soccer is becoming more important in every household," said Garrett Gerstenberger, soccer coach at San Marcos High School.
