Woman Taken to Hospital After Crashing ATV in Santa Barbara Backcountry

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - A 50-year-old woman is recovering at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital after rolling over in the ATV she was riding in the Upper Oso Campgrounds off Paradise Road Saturday morning.

The unidentified woman suffered minor to moderate injuries, according to Santa Barbara County Fire Capt. Dave Zaniboni. The crash occurred at about 11 a.m.

A helicopter from the Air Support Unit in Santa Ynez was called to assist Santa Barbara County Fire personnel with the patient. However, the helicopter was ultimately cancelled.

The woman was loaded into a pickup truck and taken to an awaiting ambulance at Los Prietos Forest Service station.

The cause of the crash is unknown. No other details were immediately known.
