Ventura Man Honored by President Obama

WASHINGTON D.C. - President Obama presented 24 Medals of Honor in a rare ceremony Monday.

The event was meant to commemorate acts of bravery during war. The government says these people should have been recognized long ago.

One local family from Ventura was honored. The uncle of an Ojai resident received a Posthumous Medal of Honor. Sergeant Eduardo Gomez was honored for his courageous actions in the Korean war.

The recipients span three wars, from WWII to Korea, and Vietnam.
