SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The USS Ronald Reagan hosted hundreds of visitors on the aircraft carrier this weekend.
The hangar bays turned into a Hail and Farewell reception Sunday night.
As the visitors were able to tour the ship in the four days it was anchored off Santa Barbara, thousands of sailors visited the city.
"It's an honor that they're here. There's a lot of connections obviously between Ronald Reagan and Santa Barbara and so the USS Ronald Reagan will always be welcomed in Santa Barbara," said Mayor Helene Schneider.
The Reagan travel back to San Diego then to Hawaii for the Rim of the Pacific training exercises. The United States will host 24 countries and 40 ships.
Starting next year, the ship will travel to Japan to replace the George Washington as the forward deployed naval force.
