Santa Barbara pedestrian safety street construction

Project approved following deadly crash in 2009

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Construction on the De La Vina and Figueroa street intersection in Santa Barbara is set to start next month.

Construction is scheduled on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

New street lights will be installed and curb extensions will be constructed at all four corners.

The project was approved by the city council to improve pedestrian safety, after a pedestrian died at the intersection back in 2009.
