San Luis Obispo County Declares "Drought Emergency"

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif. - The San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors have unanimously voted to declare a "drought emergency" for the county.

The vote was passed five to zero Tuesday afternoon.County officials say declaring a "drought emergency" will allow the county and its residents to be eligible for federal and state grants. 

At the meeting, they revealed a recent report stating the county is at at 35% of the amount of rainfall it should be receiving.

Meantime, Santa Barbara County declared a drought emergency in January.
