PASO ROBLES, CALIF. - UPDATE: Fire crews are dousing the hillsides along Nacimiento Lake Drive after the Hill Fire broke out early Wednesday afternoon.
The fire burned about 8 acres and left some residents unable to temporarily go back home because of road closures.
"I got off work and knew the road was probably closed but we were hoping we could get through or they would escort us through," says Russell Collins.
His home is just down the road from the fire was burning east of Lake Nacimiento in an area referred to as Hell Hill.
Crews in the area still battling the Chimney Fire quickly came to help. Fire crews say it was an essential part if making sure the fire didn't get out of control.
"The fact that we had all those resources still we were able to assist those fighting that particular fire with out resources," says Scott Mclean, Public Information Officer with Cal Fire.
Residents in the area say for the past few weeks they have been able to see the smoke from the Chimney Fire and the destruction it left behind.
With another fire breaking out so soon after the Chimney Fire it left them concerned.
"It always gets you concerned if you're not worried about it I don't think you're not honest with yourself," says Collins.
Fire officials say crews will remain working in the area overnight to make sure everything is out. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
As of 4:00 p.m. - A firefighter has suffered burn injuries fighting the Hill Fire, east of Lake Nacimiento. The firefighter has been transported to a hospital.
The brush fire broke out at 1:25 p.m. Wednesday off of Nacimiento Lake Drive near the area known as Hell Hill. Cal Fire has re-assigned personnel from the nearby Chimney Fire.
Crews are fighting the Hill Fire from the air and the ground. As of 3 p.m. it had burned eight acres and was 20 percent contained. No structures were immediately threatened.
