Cuesta College Accreditation Reaffirmed

SAN LUIS OBISPO COUNTY, Calif - After years of struggling, Cuesta College has successfully had its accreditation reaffirmed and its sanctions dropped.

The college has been working to get its accreditation reaffirmed since 2009. Since then, the school has been put on a series of sanctions warning it that if it didn't make some changes it could lose its accreditation status.

Just last week the Accreditation Commission for Community and Junior Colleges issued its most recent evaluation. In the report it states the college has made significant progress on its goals- and showed enough evidence that it is now in compliance with accreditation standards.

"For students the bottom line for them is they want to be able to attend a college where they have no question or doubt about the work that they perform, the degrees or certificates they earn, will be accepted at any workplace or any university throughout the country," said President Gil Stork. "Getting that series of doubt out of their mind is hugely important."

The college's accreditation is issued and reevaluated every six years and because it is in its six-year cycle right now, it will be reevaluated this fall.
