SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

Some of the people who direct choirs are meeting in Santa Barbara for their annual convention, and one local choir got the chance to perform in front of a very tough audience!

The boys and and girls from San Marcos High School will perform for a convention of choral directors here representing some of the best in the country.

But this is just the first stop on a big tour for the San Marcos Madrigal Singers.

Their next stop in June is in Italy.

"We're going to go to Venice and Florence and Rome," said Choir Member Travis Smelley.  "We're going to sing in the Vatican for Mass.  We're really excited about that, it's a huge opportunity."

To get there, they still have to raise another $60,000.
