SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

Last-minute shoppers are rushing to get Christmas gifts before stores close tonight.

Some people barely started shopping on Christmas Eve.

It could be called procrastinating, but others said they like the thrill of trying to get their gifts before it's too late.

Many stores are offering big discounts, trying to entice last-minute shoppers to spend there.

Downtown Santa Barbara sidewalks were filled with people carrying bags with gifts that needed to be wrapped and put under the tree.

"Right now, I'm just shopping for my dad and my cousin and everyone. It's super hectic. I shouldn't have waited until the last minute," said Terra Cobian.

"I'm all finished; just helping him. But we found some good stuff," said Shelby Zylstra with her brother, Derek Zylstra.

"I got some gifts for my brothers and my uncle and aunt. It's funny that it's sunny on Christmas Eve in Santa Barbara, but where else do we get to have this weather?" said Carter Hudson.

Shops at Paseo Nuevo Mall in Santa Barbara close at 6 p.m.

Target in Ventura will stay open until 9 p.m., but Target in Santa Maria will be open until 10 p.m.

CVS Pharmacy will be open until midnight Christmas Eve.
