That large Coast Guard maintenance vessel outside of the Santa Barbara Harbor this week was in town to check the buoys.
It caught the eye of many people along the waterfront and the edge of Stearns Wharf. They watched a special crane in operation on the vessel that was used as part of the work.
The buoys are necessary for safe navigation in the area. Some are also equipment with electronics that relay ocean conditions.
The Santa Barbara harbor has more than 1000 commercial and recreational vessels in it, and many are used regularly.
