Kitchens all over San Luis Obispo County are heating up and it’s all meant to introduce the community to some of the central coasts best eateries.
Chef Shawn Behrens at Luna Red wanted to spice things up for restaurant month this year. "I wanted to encourage everybody to come in and share center of the table dining experience something like if you went and got transported to Spain," said Behrens.
Like many of the participating restaurants Behrens is offering a three course meal using foods that are locally grown.
The idea is to attract customers that haven't been there before. "It helps not only push tourism through our restaurants and foodie destination but it also promotes locals trying new restaurants and getting out," said Erica Davis of Visit San Luis Obispo County.
By incentivizing people with a $30 three course meal it has helped the local businesses thrive during a slow month. "From last year we saw a 46 percent increase in sales from our restaurant members that participated in this program," said Davis.
This is the 7th year San Luis Obispo County has participated in restaurant month. 45 restaurants throughout the county are taking part.
