ISLA VISTA, Calif. -

UCSB senior Erin Davidson organized a chalk memorial for the six victims that lost their lives in the Isla Vista shootings.

People started drawing at 9 a.m. and worked until 2 p.m., decorating the streets of Isla Vista.

It was a chance for the community to come together and connect a week after the killings.

"I really feel that self-expression is really important and doing it in a tangible way is really therapeutic. Another reason why I wanted to do it is that people walk by the street and all they see is death and pain and I wanted to cover it up with beauty," said Erin Davison, UCSB student.

The Hillel Shabbat will hold a service of remembrance on Friday at 6:15 p.m. on Embarcadero Del Mar. All faiths are welcomed.
