THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. -

Ventura County prosecutors announced the arrest and indictments of suspected members of the Mexican Mafia with local ties.

Law enforcement agencies arrested six people from Oxnard, Los Angeles and Hollywood. A warrant has been issued for a seventh suspect named Henri Mejia.

Officers said the suspects are accused of calling the shots and taxing local gangs in Oxnard and Santa Barbara.

They are also accused to smuggling drugs and weapons.

The suspects being held on bail are due in court Sept. 26.

At least one of the suspects is believed to be linked to a murder in Santa Barbara County.
