Officials at a prison camp said an inmate was discovered missing during an inmate count at the Minimum Security Satellite Prison Camp in Lompoc.
Authorities said 37-year-old James Booker of Marina, California walked away from the camp Wednesday.
Booker is described as African American man, 5 feet and 9 inches tall, weighing 210 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was convicted of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and he is serving a 104-month sentence.
A search is underway with the FBI, U.S. Marshals Service along with local and state authorities. The public is encouraged to contact law enforcement if Booker is spotted in the community.
The Federal Correctional Complex in Lompoc is located approximately 60 miles North of Santa Barbara. The Minimum Security Satellite Prison Camp houses approximately 301 male offenders.
