OXNARD, Calif. - The Mexican Consulate in Oxnard held an immigration workshop for people holding work permits issued under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival program.
The consulate also provided financial aid for work permit DACA renewals.
Javier Cerritos De Los Santos is the consul of protection and legal affairs at the Mexican Consulate in Oxnard.
"We are very happy because we had the opportunity to help a lot of DACA kids that needed to renew their permit. We did that with the assistance of our lawyers and we also had the chance to provide them with the funds," said De Los Santos.
He said it costs $495 for a renewal.
Organizers of the workshop encourage DACA participants to come in and ask questions to make sure they are up to date before any changes are made under the new administration.
